Little World operates a digital platform that connects German learners with native speakers and volunteers through structured, low-friction conversations. The platform supports integration and language development through scheduled and spontaneous interactions.

The organization operates with a small in-house team and relies on grant funding, which places strong emphasis on predictability, delivery clarity, and avoidance of rework. Any ambiguity at the product or UX level would directly increase development time and operational cost.

Project Overview

Intelvision partnered with Little World as part of its ongoing commitment to support social-impact and community-driven initiatives.

The main aim was to define and design a crucial new function called the Random Call Feature (Zufall Gespräch). This feature provides spontaneous, random matching between users.

Intelvision provided a dedicated design team, including a Designer and a Project Manager, to handle the specific design work and requirements definition. The scope involved wireframes for the new feature and also assisting with implementation elements like creating Dark Template tokens.

The design had to incorporate complex logic for user status (active/inactive), partner search, partner information display, confirmation/skip steps, call history, and mechanisms for users to leave feedback and register complaints regarding technical issues or negative experiences.

Challenges and Pains

01

Complex Product Logic with High User Sensitivity

The Random Call Feature required precise definition of multiple user states and interaction scenarios, including availability, matching, confirmation, call history, and post-call feedback. All flows needed to remain intuitive for users with limited language proficiency while ensuring platform safety and consistency.

02

Limited Internal Bandwidth for Product Ownership

Little World’s small in-house team did not have the capacity to own detailed product definition alongside daily operations. Without external ownership, the feature risked prolonged discussions, unclear decisions, and delayed development.

03

High Cost of Ambiguity Due to Grant-Based Funding

Operating under a grant-funded model meant there was minimal tolerance for rework. Any ambiguity at the UX or logic level would directly increase development time, cost, and operational risk.

Solution

Intelvision addressed Little World’s specific needs by assembling a dedicated design and analysis team immediately.

  • Talent as a Service with Fast Onboarding
Intelvision applied its Talent as a Service model and onboarded a dedicated cross-functional product team within 14 days, operating as an extension of the client’s internal team without increasing headcount.
  • End-to-End Product Logic Ownership
Intelvision took responsibility for defining the complete product structure, converting ideas into clear, implementation-ready UX flows and removing the need for ongoing clarification during development.
  • Delivery-Ready UX and Validation
Final wireframes for desktop and mobile were delivered alongside documented user flows and dark theme tokens. Quality assurance was embedded from the start, with flow validation, cross-browser testing, and test case management handled via Qase.io.

How We Solved the Challenges

Decision Compression Before Development

By owning product structure and flow decisions, Intelvision significantly reduced the number of decisions required from the client, allowing stakeholders to validate outcomes instead of managing details.

Risk Reduction Through Early Validation

UX logic and edge cases were validated before development began, reducing implementation risk and eliminating assumptions at the engineering stage.

Consistent Delivery Discipline

Despite the non-commercial nature of the engagement, Intelvision applied the same delivery standards used for SaaS and enterprise clients, ensuring predictability and quality.
